Because a multipack isn’t always a good deal.
About
Aukilo was born from a simple conviction: to shop with full knowledge, you need to be able to compare products on a clear basis. Not just the price displayed in big print on the label. But the price per kilo, per liter or per unit.
01
Because a multipack isn’t always a good deal.
02
Because a large format can cost more per kilo.
03
Because a product can shrink without its price dropping.
04
And because no one should have to pull out a calculator in the middle of an aisle.
It all started with a frustrating observation: the price per kilo exists, it’s mandatory for many products, but it remains hard to read, hard to compare and almost impossible to track from one store to another.
On the shelf, everything catches the eye except the unit that truly allows comparison: the kilo, the liter or the unit.
Shrinkflation, misleadingly advantageous multipacks, "family" formats that aren’t always economical, hard-to-decode promos: packaging traps are everywhere. Not necessarily illegal. Not always intentional. But often invisible at the moment of choice.
So we decided to build the tool we would have liked to have in our cart: an app that lets you scan a product, read a label, compare formats and make the real price more readable.
Aukilo draws on several sources: user contributions, label photos, receipts, drives, catalogs, open databases and public data. The community can also flag errors, correct prices and gradually enrich the database.
Our goal isn’t to promise magic savings. It’s simpler: give consumers the right information before they buy.
The idea is born from a simple question: why is it so hard to know which product is really cheapest per kilo? Very quickly, the topic goes beyond the displayed price. You have to compare formats, packaging, multipacks, stores, locations and changes over time.
First launch of Aukilo. The app already gathers a large database of geolocated products and stores, enriched by open data, public sources, catalogs, drives and the first community contributions. Every scan, every shared label and every report helps make comparisons more useful for everyone.
A team passionate about technology, everyday products and price transparency.
CEO & co-founder
With solid product experience — user journeys, prioritization, roadmap and usage-driven vision — Emilie carries Aukilo’s vision on the consumer needs side. The idea was born from a very concrete observation: while shopping, as a consumer and a mom, it became increasingly hard to understand what was really worth it between inflation, changing formats, "family" multipacks, promos and often unreadable prices per kilo. With Aukilo, she wants to finally make this comparison simple, useful and accessible.
CTO & co-founder
An expert in software engineering and mobile products, Robin designs the systems that allow Aukilo to group references, compare formats and make price data more readable. His obsession: turning millions of scattered pieces of information — products, packaging, stores, prices, receipts, catalogs — into a simple and useful comparison at the moment of purchase.
Prices aren’t secret. They’re often poorly highlighted. Aukilo brings back to the center the information that truly allows comparison: the price per kilo, per liter or per unit.
Aukilo becomes more useful as the community contributes. Every shared price, every flagged error, every verified label can help other users better compare their groceries.
Aukilo is independent from stores, brands, manufacturers and distributors. No store can pay to be ranked higher, hide an unfavorable comparison or artificially influence the results displayed in the app.
Aukilo offers a Freemium plan to allow as many people as possible to compare prices more easily. Aukilo Plus, an optional subscription, gives access to more features and supports the development of the service. Properly understanding the price of your groceries shouldn’t be a privilege.
